- I got my professional writing start as a music journalist & pop culture critic when I was 19 years old
- My earliest jobs: florist, computer technician, barista, cafe manager, supermarket admin, and touring merch girl for bands
- I learned how to code HTML as a teen and still use it today
- I speak German (intermediate), Japanese (basic) and French (basic), with the first two being self-taught
- My uncommon last name is Scottish – likely a variant of “Hudgekins” – but it’s also a Japanese word: ホチキス, which means stapler (here is a fun explanation of how this happened)
